Versailles Gardens

23 mai

In the Primary room at church.  I choose the right when...

We ate couscous for lunch! There is a lot of African food influence because of the immigrants from North Africa.  They brought out this huge pan of couscous and then we had meat and vegetables to put in with it.  It was probably one of the most delicious things I've ever had!

Then we went to the Versailles gardens.  It was the first day here in France that I have actually felt hot.  It was incredibly big and beautiful as I've always heard it is.

In one part of the gardens is the Petit Trianon which was a special castle/garden/village just for Marie Antoinette and whoever she brought with her (usually her children).

This area was so incredibly gorgeous!

Then we got the little village called the Hamlet that Marie Antoinette commissioned to have built so that she could pretend that she was a peasant.  There is a pond, a farm, gardens, vineyards, and lots of village looking houses and barns.

I know that it was built for a kind of ridiculous purpose, but it was for real so quaint and cute.

Lots of the buildings had flowers growing on the roofs

This is now back to the main area of the Versailles gardens
